In Houston

Arrived at Natalie’s magical warehouse (will post photos soon) H.B. had a big experience (another entry) Natalie and I enjoyed a wonderful meal from (French) family favorite cookbook. (Pork loin rubbed in paprika and savory with mushroom cream sauce and sautee’d patty pan squash and broccolli spears. A  glass of wine, a welcome shower and hit the rack.

Blow out #2

6 hr. drive to Houston from Scott. Grassland, cattle, industry. Unremarkable and somewhat indistinct but for billboards advertising fashion “a little bit gaudy” and how soon a fetus’s heart begins to beat. Just through Beaumont Texas tire in bug blew. 2 down, 6 to go? Kick myself for ignoring dry sidewalls in favor of great tread. Again, angels surrounding me? made it safely to side of road beside ramp with “discount auto” in view. Downside, needed 4 tires (still cheaper than trip to e.r.!) and damage to rear fender from tire 🙁 will begin the hunt for “repair materials” in Houston.

From Pennsacola to Scott

Mondays meandering travels led from Pennsacola event to Scott L.a. across grasslands and vast estuaries seeing tracts of land that Garmin sweetly insisted we travel.

Several anxious minutes slogged by as we crossed bridges over diverted waters that formed rolling, whitecaps  (surprising formerly dry trees) now neck deep, in the rushing water.

Continued on the way, driving, driving, Garmin insisting this turn and that, me in the lead… trusting but wondering at the technology that had replaced a map. Finally landed in Scott KOA (feet from the interstate) and fell into a deep, exhausted, sleep.

Hitting the road

Hello, I’m Carolyn and I am writing my 1st blog… it is about a trip I’m taking with my dog, Honey Bun. We are towing my “art car” (the “Stink-bug”) from Orlando Florida to Portland Oregon (and back) On the way we’ll stop in Pennsacola (Art in the Park) Houston (Orange show parade) Tulsa (Art car weekend) New Mexico (Friends:) then on to Seattle (Freemont faire parade) and Portland Oregon (friend Marci) along the way we are sure to meet some amazing people, have serendipitous events and probably a few surprises… and so begins the adventure!

finally getting the blog rolling!

Good morning and Whoo hoo!
After a bumpy departure from O town (blow out 1 hr out!) H.B. and I made it to Panama city where we were hosted by “the unreal artist” gallery and the wonderful Paulette (mermaids don’t cook) Fortunately, I do and we supped on salmon veg curry over coconut rice. Thurs a.m. we had breakfast fruit and nut porridge and began the hunt (and wait) for a replacement tire and rim. H.B. and I then hit the road to Pennsacola and KOA there. Event was hosted by the Pennsacola museum of art (thank you Sonya!) and took place in the city park downtown. We enjoyed paradise, shade, beautiful breezes, music and much art! Stopped in Baton Rouge to find a t.v.(Paulette is an Oprah fan!) I took the bun for a stroll found wild blackberries (smoothies this a.m.yum.) I am reminded that my needs are met and my way is made smooth. On the way to Houston today dear friend and inspiration, Natalie and giant event- Orange show parade!
